Bread & Butter Pickles

Location: Worminster Farm, Somerset

Whilst similar recipes have been around for centuries, the origin of bread and butter pickles is attributed to Omar and Cora Fanning, cucumber farmers from Illinois who started selling sweet and sour pickles in the 1920's called "Fanning's Bread and Butter Pickles". It is believed the name came from bartering them in Depression-era America for staples such as bread and butter.

Made on Worminster Farm, Somerset by CultJar. Nearly all their ingredients are grown on site and they focus on age-old fermentation and pickling methods, but subtly updating them with the use of creative ingredient combinations,

They pair fantastically with British Cheddars and Territorial; try them with any of Pitchfork Cheddar, Sparkenhoe Red Leicester, or Colston Bassett Stilton.
