Les Oliviers - Vignerons d'Estézargues

Les Vignerons d’Estézargues was the first co-operative to espouse organic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. Their ten growers farm 420 hectares near the village of Estézargues in the Gard, immediately west of Avignon. Despite the relatively large scale, the group is set apart by employing strictly hands-off winemaking – no cultivated yeasts, no fining or excessive filtrations, nor any other additivies – while continuing to make clean and very drinkable wines of exceptional value.

Les Oliviers is a typical Rhone blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Warm and generous, with ripe red and dark fruit notes, underlain with the scent of garrigue typical of the region. The Syrah contributes a fresh acidity that cuts through the ripe Grenache and earthy Mourvèdre, making for a balanced and very drinkable wine. Pair it with our Charcuterie – some Salame Molinari would make a particularly good pairing, as would the earthiness of Hafod cheddar.
