While the cottage and traditional orchards have been in place at Gregg’s Pit since 1785 it was only in 1992 when James Marsden bought the site that production was resumed after years of neglect. The cider we sell is a mixture of Dabinet & Yarlington Mill which is bottle fermented to 6% ABV.
It is a hazy unfiltered cider with an intriguing buttery baked apple aroma and has lovely moussey bubbles with a natural pastry sweetness balanced out by its tannins and delicate acidity. It has a delicacy reminiscent of Normandy ciders. This would pair naturally with a Camembert but also works beautifully with a young Langres whose fatty richness and light saltiness suits the sweetness and tannins very well.
