Apremont - Domaine Giachino

Region: Savoie, France

Grapes: Jacquere, a Savoyard variety

Frederic Giachino inherited the land in 1998 and turned the area over to grape production, with a strong influence of the traditional Savoyard varieties.  He produces a range of organic wines in the Chartreuse Hills on the slopes of Mount Granier. Hand-picked grapes are slowly and gently pressed and held at 5C for a week to 10 days in order to reduce any need for sulphites.

The Domaine Giachino use only natural yeasts which may result in variation from vintage to vintage of the levels of malolactic fermentation.  The wine is aged on lees before bottling.  A bright and fresh wine with lovely texture, our current vintage has lots of green apple acidity and an elegant minerality.  Traditionally Apremont is the wine drunk locally to accompany a fondue.  Follwing that theme, it pairs nicely with our Swiss Fondue but also Raclette Au Lait Cru or Raclette Alpage and with Reblochon

ABV: 12.5%
